ABOUT MISSING TOURISTS IN QUAKE-HIT SICHUAN AND MOLOTOV COCKTAILS AT THE PERAK DAP HQ

Two stories caught my attention as I checked the news on the net. Firstly about the 26 missing tourists who were in the quake-hit Western Sichuan Province, China. My thoughts go out to the families of those missing, who were all apparently from Ipoh or Perak. News agencies reports about the devastating earthquake that hit Sichuan with more than 15,000 people affected, injured or missing. These families are waiting anxiously for any news about their loved ones and we can only pray that they are all safe and sound. I hope that the Malaysian Embassy can quickly get information about them and relay it to their families back home who must be worried sick.

Also, apparently two molotov cocktails were thrown at the Perak DAP HQ in Ipoh. While no one was hurt, it is always best that actions such as these be avoided. I can only speculate that some irresponsible people were angry at the DAP for whatever reason. Engagement through dialogue and communication is always better than direct action.

Then again, it had been reported that YB Dato' Ngeh Koo Ham, the senior Perak Govt. Exco had said that the MB of Perak must have had a reason to issue a 24-hour transfer notice to the Pengarah of JAIP; likewise the people who threw the molotov cocktails at the DAP HQ must equally have had a reason to do so too. Both actions were wrong to begin with and the best advice for all concerned should be to think rationally before one does something emotionally.
